Discover Your Creative Passion

Overview

OnStage After School is a Theatrical Program with a specifically developed curriculum for terms 1 and 2. It explores and discovers Theatrical Dance, Singing, Acting and Stage Craft for children in school years 1-12. Terms 3 and 4 will be the lead up to our end of year performance.

Held once a week in either Ballina or Alstonville during the school term, the program also focuses on developing self-confidence, expression and coordination in a fun supportive environment.

Program

School Years 1-2 ( Jnr Primary)

Terms 1 and 2 are an introduction to drama, singing and dance. It also focuses on developing confidence, co-ordination in movement, characterisation, the basis of voice projection and of course having fun, through drama games, warm up exercises and role playing.

Terms 3 and 4 are working on an end of year performance from knowledge and skills learnt in the first two terms.

School Years 3-5 (Primary)

Terms 1,2 offers a more detailed look into musical theatre practices and stage craft. Exploring timing and expression in singing, dancing and drama and incorporating the use of choreographed, scripted and improvised dance and drama. Using warm up exercises, games, improvisation, role playing, character identification, emotion and projection to help hone acting skills and more.

Terms 3 and 4 are working on an end of year performance from knowledge and skills learnt in the first two terms.

School Years 6 – Snr to (High School)

Term 1 and 2 offers a more advanced program in theatrical performing, drama, singing and dance, voice projection, memorisation skills, how to improve timing, characterisation, self-confidence and improv.

Drama games, warm up exercises, improvisation, role playing, character identification, emotion, and projection are all used to hone acting skills.

During terms 3 and 4 we bring together the knowledge gained in the first 2 terms and the process involved in auditioning which leads to our end of year performance.

Both groups; Ballina and Alstonville will come together to present a musical production at the conclusion of term 4. Students must attend terms 2 and 3 as a minimum requirement to be in the end of year performance. The production will have professional lighting, sound and staging.  It is important to note that there may be some additional costume costs and the production is ticketed.
